Wills, Estates & Trusts

Your financial affairs are important. Distribution of your assets will be dictated by statutes unless you have a valid will in place.

Because my law practice is focused on helping grow families through adoption and in preserving family relationships through collaborative divorce, I find that many of my clients needs include changes to their wills and estate plans.

I assist my clients who wish to continue to work with me in their planning or reorganization of estate planning. I also am happy to connect my clients with other attorneys who have extensive experience in the specific areas for which my clients need help. Planning your estate should be a unique process, tailored to your individual situation. A complete estate plan is much more than a will. The best plan provides thoughtful solutions to family and tax objectives. Coordination with investment management, insurance, and retirement benefits is an important objective.

People benefiting from estate planning include single persons, married couples and couples contemplating a relationship outside of marriage. Estate planning becomes especially important when young children are introduced into the equation. Estate planning can begin with simple wills and continue with a comprehensive estate plan including power(s) of attorney, healthcare directive(s), and a will with contingent trusts and guardianship provisions.
